We tried the Ginger & Turmeric Shot by DOSE Juice for seven days

Dose Juice

You know what they say – summer bodies are made in the winter, which is exactly why we’re kicking our health journey into high gear. If we’re being completely honest, we consumed far too many cheeseburger combo meals in the past few months. This has led to unmeasurable guilt, general sluggishness, and now, the strong urge to break our unhealthy habits as soon as possible.

In addition to replacing our semi-weekly happy hour drinks with sweaty gym sessions, we’ve enlisted the help of Ginger & Turmeric Shots by DOSE Juice.

The independent juice company originates from Montreal and was started by entrepreneurial couple Genevieve Brousseau-Provencher and Raphael Hubert. The two share a deep passion for healthy living and creating cold-pressed juices with organic vegetables and fruits.

Everyone’s favourite superfood shot

DOSE Juice’s latest product to launch, the Ginger & Turmeric Shot, is jam-packed with a high concentration of ginger, lemon, and turmeric. It also contains black pepper and a special ingredient called BioPerine, which assists with nutrient absorption.

“We’ve changed two things about your favourite superfood shot to make it better for you and for the environment,” says Brousseau-Provencher, cofounder of DOSE Juice, in a recent YouTube video. “The shot was already extremely beneficial for your health because of the ginger and turmeric, especially since turmeric contains curcumin. This active ingredient is said to have antioxidant, antiviral, and anti-inflammatory properties. But your body isn’t able to absorb all of the curcumin without some help so we’ve added BioPerine, allowing your body to absorb 2,000 percent more.”

Plus, DOSE Juice’s extremely Instagram-worthy shot bottles are now made with recycled plastics, reducing the amount of plastic waste that goes into landfills.

“We also decided that we were only going to use recycled plastics, otherwise known as post-consumer resin, for packaging,” says Brousseau-Provencher. “We wanted to use what’s already available and reduce the production of even more plastic. This moves us closer to achieving our sustainability goals.”

Powerful benefits

Improving your health and current diet is as easy as tossing back a 60 ml shot of concentrated juice, a few times per week.

The cold-pressed, organic lemon juice gives you a boost of vitamin C, which is much needed when the dreaded cold and flu season rolls around. As for the ginger, it’s best known for its ability to soothe an uneasy stomach and fend off germs. While turmeric and its most active compound, curcumin, provide you with plenty of antioxidants, further supporting your immune system.

After adding one of the Ginger and Turmeric Shots to our morning routine for one week, we noticed a surprising burst of energy that wasn’t followed by a post-consumption crash.

Also, there’s something so powerful about making healthier, more mindful decisions when it comes to what you’re putting into your body. It certainly boosted our mood and had us feeling motivated to crush eight hours of work from our at-home office.

Taking the cold-pressed shot before eating your usual piece of peanut butter toast is an incredibly simple way to give your body the nutrients it deserves. Between working, socializing, and attending a spin class every so often, your schedule can get hectic. This is why implementing small changes is the easiest way you can stay on track.

DOSE Juice suggests diluting the shots with water if you find the taste too strong but we found its sourness quite invigorating.

Don’t stop at shots

Drinking cold-pressed, organic juice is a great way to increase your energy and add vitamins to your diet. It can also help reset your body after eating an entire four-cheese pizza with your friends last Thursday.

Along with its superfood shots, DOSE Juice offers tons of juices, plant-based smoothies, and cleanses. There are green juices that promote healthy skin and immune function, made with cucumber, celery, kale, spinach, lemon, parsley, ginger, and chlorophyll. Folks who prefer smoothies will take delight in DOSE Juice’s vegan smoothies that are packed with protein and fiber.

On its website, you can purchase single juices or create a subscription pack, which is the best (and most affordable) way to discover the company’s tasty selection.

There are also several organic juice cleanses that will revive you after a weekend spent drinking wine and scarfing down rich foods. If you’re new to the world of juice cleanses, we recommend starting with a beginner cleanse with options of a one, three, five, or seven-day cleanse. Each cleanse day contains 10 juices and smoothies that will replace your meals and snacks.
