The Toronto Maple Leafs Baseball Club — not the hockey team — is the city’s professional baseball team that has been playing in the Canadian Baseball League (CBL) since 1969. Their home field is Dominico Field at Christie Pits Park and tickets are free.
Excluding the Maple Leafs, eight other teams play in the CBL and they’re all based in Ontario: the Barrie Baycats, Brantford Red Sox, Chatham-Kent Barnstormers, Hamilton Cardinals, Kitchener Panthers, London Majors, and Niagara’s Welland Jackfish.
The Toronto Maple Leafs currently sit sixth in the standings with 11 wins and 21 losses. The team has won seven out of 11 home games.
While Dominico Field doesn’t have much in the way of seating, it’s hard to complain when tickets are free.
“Games at Christie Pits are free to attend. We encourage you to bring a seat pad or blanket and find a spot on the hill to catch the action,” states the team’s ticket purchase page.
Between now and the end of the CBL season on Aug. 30, the Maple Leafs will play six more home games. They will play against:
- London Majors on Aug. 8
- Chatham-Kent Barnstormers on Aug. 15
- Brantford Red Sox on Aug. 19
- Kitchener Panthers on Aug. 22
- Brantford Red Sox on Aug. 26
- Kitchener Panthers on Aug. 28
