From a virtual dance party to a handful of dancing festivals and a series of lessons by the water, here are some free dance events happening in Toronto this summer.
DANCING ON THE SQUARE
Date: Every Wednesday in July and August
Where: Harbourfront Centre
The Harbourfront Centre is hosting a series of dance events this summer, giving you the chance to get some exercise while learning a new dance style.
The classes run every Wednesday evening in July and August, starting at 7 p.m. and taking attendees through a tutorial on various dance styles, including salsa, swing, and bachata.
This summer’s schedule is as follows:

- July 16 — Bachata with Soul2Sole
- July 23 — Balfolk with Balfolk Toronto

SALSA ON ST. CLAIR
Date: July 5-6
Where: St. Clair Ave. W., from Winona Rd. to Christie St.
Salsa on St. Clair is returning for another weekend celebrating all things Latino culture.
Attendees are invited to participate in non-stop dancing along St. Clair Ave. W. as part of the country’s hottest salsa party, which will also include Latin music, cuisine, and a fiesta you won’t forget.
Various dance classes will be available throughout the two-day event, offering you the chance to learn some new moves for free, while DJs will be keeping you grooving as you enjoy the festivities.

DANCE ON YONGE
Date: July 11-13
Where: Mel Lastman Square
Dance on Yonge is returning to North York for the third year, bringing with it three days of dancing in North York’s Mel Lastman Square.
Festival-goers can look forward to non-stop music, dancing, and food in the heart of North York!
The party promises live DJs, dance showcases from professional artists, street dance battles, K-Pop dancing, salsa socials, bachata parties and more.
Plus, attendees can bust a move in interactive LED dance zones.
MIXTO
Date: July 12-13, 2025
Where: Trillium Park, 955 Lake Shore Blvd. W.
Mixto Festival, produced by Toronto-based non-profit music presenter Uma Nota Culture, is returning to the city this summer with a lineup that reflects the festival’s roots of celebrating global music, dance and community.
The festival is part of Trillium Park’s SummerSeries, and is described as a free, family-friendly, intercultural, intergenerational dance party, featuring everything from samba music to Afrobeats.
The event also features free access to mobile saunas, cold bucket plunges, a curated artisan international street food market, Uma Nota’s bar featuring authentic Brazilian snacks, and a creative kids play area.
This year’s festival lineup includes Bia Ferreira, Frente Cumbiero, and Empanadas Ilegales as well as Toronto standouts like Ahmed Moneka, Orbital Ensemble, and Ana Luisa, Sofia Fly and Sanjeet.
FREEDOM DANCEMISSIONS
Date: July 20, 2025

A free online dance party combining magic and move, Freedom Dancemissions welcomes participants to log on and participate in a gathering fusing together the “wild joy of ecstatic dance and the ancient power of elemental magic into a potent force for collective liberation.”
