Are you looking for a reason to get out of the city? Fruit picking is always a fun summertime activity, and there are several farms within a two-hour drive of Toronto offering you the chance to pick some of the tastiest fruit in season. 

With strawberries and raspberries currently in peak season, you do not want to miss the opportunity to pick them yourself! Here are seven farms to visit this summer to go fruit picking!

Downey’s Strawberry and Apple Farm (Strawberries)

Location: 13707 Heart Lake Rd., Caledon

You probably are familiar with this popular farm for their pumpkin patch, but did you know that in the summer, their fresh, handpicked strawberries are all the hype? 

Head to Caledon to go strawberry picking at Downey’s Strawberry and Apple Farm while strawberries are still in season! From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., you can enjoy picking 2L to 6L of strawberries, with prices from $16 to $48 based on the amount you’ve picked.

Blackstock Berries (Raspberries)

Location: 13451 Old Scugog Rd., Blackstock

Raspberry season is here at Blackstone Berries!

For $5/pint, you can enjoy a full day of picking from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. for the freshest berries in Durham Region!

Tindall Farm and Market (Strawberries)

Location: 13669 Regional Rd. 1, Uxbridge 

Tindall’s strawberries are in season and ready to be picked! Baskets are provided, with berries prices at $10/basket if you want to pick your own, or $15 for a pre-picked basket. 

This farm proudly grows and sources fruit that is chemical-free. Make sure you stay updated on their page to make sure you get there before the end of strawberry season!

Pingle’s Farm Market (Strawberries and Raspberries)

Location: 1805 Taunton Rd., Hampton 

Celebrate Pingle’s Summer on the Farm by filling your basket with their fresh strawberries and raspberries, along with their ripened peas and vibrant lavender flowers! 

This celebration, which lasts until August, is beyond just fruit-picking, but it is a community event for families to get together and enjoy the beauty of the farm.

Maple Grove Orchards (Strawberries and Raspberries)

Location: 3700 Maple Grove Rd., Bowmanville 

Stop by Maple Grove Orchards to pick a basket of strawberries while they’re still in season! The fruit is priced at $6/quart of strawberries, and for $18, you can pick three quarts and receive a basket. You must pay for a minimum of one quart of strawberries to enter the orchard.

Wilmot Orchards (Blueberries)

Location: 3337 Concession Rd. 3, Newcastle 

Drive over to Wilmot Orchards for their farm specialty — blueberries! 

From blueberry jam to blueberry desserts, the orchard is well-known for its vibrant and flavourful blueberries. 

While they’re still in season, you can pick them yourself and enjoy them back at home.

Watson Farms (Strawberries and Raspberries)

Location: 2287 HWY 2, Bowmanville 

Spend a day at Watson Farms and pick your own strawberries and raspberries. 

They are open both on weekdays and weekends from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Strawberries range from $7 to $36, depending on how many litres you purchase, while raspberries are $10 for a litre and $30 for three litres.
