Mint Boutique

MINT BOUTIQUE 6 Rack House, 416-368-6468, mintboutique.ca

If you want proof that the Distillery District is morphing from a tourist destination into a bona fide neighbourhood, just visit new arrival Mint Boutique. Sure, Lisa Anderson’s shop is stocked with lots of the giftable goods the area’s visitors are after (including Canadian-made whisky rocks and glass oil and vinegar bottles hand-blown to look like science class beakers), but she’s also focusing on style staples for local condo dwellers who crave some retail therapy without leaving their pocket of the city.

Racks loaded up with Shoshanna print dresses and CP Shades linen tunics seem to be suggesting you pack them up for a winter getaway instead of waiting till spring arrives in Toronto to wear them. So do colourful raffia fedoras and stacks of TKees sandals.

The store also carries womenswear by Seven jeans and Rebecca Taylor, plus unisex Fighting Yeti T-shirts and lots of great statement jewellery.

Mint Boutique picks: The Shoshanna line, including pieces like the floral Teagan dress, is known for fitting curvier figures, $330 eager Valentines should pick up one of Andrea Corson’s heart pendants made out of tiny drops of silver before they sell out, $110 Mint’s “it bag” is Mar Y Sol’s woven clutch, $75.

Look for: A new collection of Theodora & Callum silk scarves.

Hours: Monday to Wednesday 11 am to 6 pm, Thursday to Saturday 11 am to 7 pm, Sunday 11 am to 5 pm.
