Pamela Anderson’s long-awaited documentary, Pamela, a love story, invites viewers to experience a visceral walkthrough of the star’s life, unlike what we’ve learned in the tabloids. The film premiered on Netflix on Jan. 31, 2023.

The nearly two-hour film follows Anderson’s life from childhood to present day, revealing intimate details about her parents’ abusive marriage, her history with sexual assault and complicated relationships with ex-lovers. The most notable after a leaked sex tape-tape, her marriage to Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee, with whom she shares two children. Their son, Brandon Lee, produced the documentary.

Pamela Denise Anderson was born in the small town of Ladysmith, British Columbia on July 1, 1967. After high school, she moved to Vancouver, where she was discovered by Labatt’s Beer on the jumbotron at a B.C Lions Canadian Football League game. She was hired as a Labatt’s spokesmodel and known as the Blue Zone Girl, until she received her life-changing call by Hugh Hefner’s team.

In the documentary, Anderson’s life facets are juxtaposed by her career as a Playboy Playmate and Baywatch actress, amid voiceovers by a younger woman reading her entries from her diaries.

Every scene draws you in, as you witness close-up confessions by the ethereal 55-year-old in off-white lounge wear, minimal makeup and her infamous platinum blonde hair.

The former playmate does not shy away from the hardships of her public affairs and shares her side of the story, the year after an unrelated Pam & Tommy Hulu miniseries portrayed an adverse and inaccurate depiction of her past.

Fans of Anderson and those who were unaware of the star’s history are raving about Pamela, a love story.
