Ohio-based producer RJD2 and Greenhouse Effect rhyme ripper Blueprint make Soul Position a formidable duo with their deadly one-two punch of neck-snapping beats and politically charged commentary. While their Unlimited EP showed they could rock a party, the focus shifted toward more involved narratives on their sophomore disc, 8 Million Stories, and now, with Things Go Better With RJ And Al, they seem to have found a happy middle ground. RJ puts aside his cinematic loops to deliver his roughest and toughest beats, over which Blueprint spits the party and bullshit blues like a man watching his most celebrated contempories fiddle with iced-out jewellery while their country burns before their eyes.
Soul Position rock the Horseshoe tonight (Thursday, April 13).
