There’s a free six-week activation taking over Scarborough’s Golden Mile Plaza, bringing the community together through vibrant activities and weekly programming.
From July 14 to Aug. 25, the Golden Mile Plaza, at 1880 Eglinton Ave. E., transforms into a hub of culture and celebration with the Scarborough Proud series.
Presented by Choice Properties, this activation isn’t just a series of events—it’s a love letter to Scarborough, highlighting the rich cultural tapestry of the area.
The series kicked off with a mural unveiling by artist Amir Akbari, whose work has been brightening Scarborough and the GTA for over a decade, transforming the area into a colourful, welcoming space.
Attendees enjoyed family-friendly games like ping pong and a giant Connect Four, alongside free step aerobics classes with Canadian R&B soul singer Jully Black. An ILEO pop-up shop also featured local emerging entrepreneurs from the Greater Golden Mile, showcasing the creativity and entrepreneurial spirit within the community.
With a focus on place-based programming, co-designed with local non-profits, businesses, and artists, this event truly took on a collaborative approach to reflect the heart and spirit of Scarborough.
Scarborough Proud is dedicated to empowering the community by turning a parking lot into a lively gathering spot where residents can connect, move, play, and take pride in their neighbourhood.

This summer, join the celebration at Golden Mile Plaza to enjoy free activities and entertainment for all ages, including beginner yoga and chair fit classes, hip-hop dance and taekwondo lessons, open mic nights, along with other fun games and activities.
Whether you’re a longtime resident or new to the area, there’s something for everyone. For more details on upcoming events, check out their website and follow them on Instagram.
