It’s time for your weekly round up of events happening in Toronto this weekend! This week’s lineup involves some incredible events from an Alicia Keys concert, Play on the Runway, to the annual Honda Indy at Exhibition Place, among many others. Friday, July 14:
Alicia Keys
Fans will be Fallin for the Girl on Fire at the Alicia Keys concert at Scotiabank Arena on Friday, July 14. The multi-Grammy award winning singer is in the city for her KEYS TO THE SUMMER TOUR. Toronto is the singer’s only North American stop during the duration of her tour. The show starts at 8 p.m.

Taste of the Middle East Summer Festival 2023
The 6th annual Taste of the Middle East Summer Festival is taking over Nathan Phillips Square with Arabic music, art and culture. The three-day event will transform the square into a walk through the streets and souks of the Middle East. This is a free festival that aims to showcase an electric mix of new and emerging local artists, old favourites, and some of today’s most prominent performers in Toronto’s Canadian Arabic community.

Halal Ribfest
Toronto is known to host a number of rib fests across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), but have you ever heard of a Halal Ribfest? From July 14-16, Halal Ribfest is setting up shop at Downsview Park and it’s bringing authentic Halal cuisine coupled with family friendly activities. This year, Halal Ribfest Toronto will include carnival rides, games, street performers, a Nasheed concert, and even a thrilling fire show.

Saturday, July 15:
Bloor West StreetFest
On July 15, Bloor West StreetFest invites all to spend the day in Bloor West Village where there will be over 100 amazing street vendors, free family activities, entertainment, great food and midway rides. The fun begins at 10 a.m. and will continue after dark with a night market, buskers, bands and more until 10 p.m. Admission is free but tickets for midway rides are $15 or $3 per individual ride.

Mixto Festival Toronto
Celebrate the return of Toronto’s Mixto Festival with two days of music featuring local and international artists, paired with food, fun and friends. Compared to other summer festivals, Mixto sets itself apart and describes its atmosphere as a party where there are no spectators, only revelers. The event kicks off at 2 p.m.

Honda Indy
The 35th annual Honda Indy is back at Exhibition Place. From July 14-16, festivalgoers and car enthusiasts can immerse themselves in the sights and sounds of the racetrack. In between races, attendees can also enjoy the numerous food and beverage vendors stationed across the Exhibition grounds. The event is family friendly and children under the age of 12 are free when accompanied by an adult. Gates open at 8 a.m.

Sunday, July 16:
National Ice Cream Day with Dairy Farmers of Ontario
Grab a friend and head to Harbourfront Centre for a free ice cream cone courtesy of National Ice Cream Day on July 16. Dairy Farmers of Ontario and Shaw’s Ice Cream will be giving away free scoops of Ontario milk and cookies from noon to 8 p.m. or until supplies last.

Play on the Runway
If you ever wanted to play on an airplane runway, here’s your chance. One of Toronto’s most unique events, Play on the Runway, is back for its second year on July 16. Visitors are invited to have fun and play on 2 kms of open tarmac. Guests are encouraged to bring their vehicle of choice, such as bikes, skateboards, roller skates and more to help them cruise on the runway, while listening to funky beats of a live DJ. This is a free event but registration is required.

The Welcome Market x TCBM: PLANT THEMED MARKET
Plant lovers can make their way to this weekend’s special edition of The Welcome Market. The market has collaborated with Toronto Craft and Botanical Market to bring you a plant-themed market at 938 Queen St. W. from July 15-16. Here, customers can get their plants, flowers, crafts and vintage fix all in one spot.
