Happy first weekend of fall, Toronto! 

Even though we’re saying goodbye to summer, we don’t have to say goodbye to fun, and this list of incredible events this weekend is a testament to that. 

From early Oktoberfest celebrations, to a storytelling festival and an unconventional theatre festival, here’s what you can do in Toronto this weekend. 

FRIDAY, SEPT. 26

Paulaner’s Oktoberfest Party at Waterworks

Fall just began, and it’s time to prepare for Oktoberfest! To get you in the mood for this beer celebration, the Waterworks Food Hall will become a Bavarian-style beer hall for a real Oktoberfest party. Whether you love Oktoberfest or just want to sip on some cold beer after a long week, this party might be your gem.

Try some properly-served, ice-cold Paulaner Oktoberfest beer, German-inspired special eats, including warm pretzels and bratwurst, and vibes all night with sounds by Tim North. You can also participate in the stein-holding contest, and get a complimentary 1L Paulaner stein! 

The party is at the Waterworks Food Hall at 17 Maud St., starting at 9 p.m., and tickets go for $35.

Superkick’d Pro Wrestling Rock Show

If only wrestling or rock are enough for you, this event combines both! The Superkick’d Pro Wrestling Rock Show promises an epic night, filled with wrestling action and rocking moves. Watch some amazing moves, intense rivalries, and jaw-dropping performances in a party that combines the energy of a rock concert and excitement of professional wrestling.

The event is at The Great Hall at 1087 Queen St. W. from 8–10:30 p.m., and tickets start at $27.

Pottery Workshops

Let out your creative side at The Danforth Art Studio this Friday, with these instructor-guided pottery workshops. Immerse yourself in a creative studio atmosphere and find a new hobby to take in this fall, with a step-by-step pottery workshop by an experienced artist to create your own beautiful handmade pottery. If you want to push your piece even further and give it a special look, you can also sign up to paint your pottery in the studio, giving it an even more unique look.

The pottery classes go for $25 per person with the purchase of two tickets, with available spots at 6 p.m., at The Danforth Art Studio at 270 Danforth Ave.

SATURDAY, SEPT. 27

Sneaker Con Toronto

The world’s very first sneaker show is coming to Toronto this Saturday, providing a chance for footwear lovers to browse, trade, buy or sell the most exclusive and special pairs out there. Having visited over 30 cities across the globe, this event has brought together thousands of vendors, collectors, retailers and enthusiasts, and in the 6ix, the show promises to be more than special.

This Sneaker Con will get a whole new artistic vibe, with designer and artist JaeTips leaving his mark on the day with a brand new creative theme. The artist’s new capsule collection will make its debut at the event with immersive decor and limited-edition merch, as well as exclusive surprises. Moreover, attendees can buy and swap sneakers with zero fees, authenticate rare pieces for no extra cost at the Sneaker Con Authenticated booth and get the chance to win prizes at the 40 for 40 Game Show. 

This event is happening from 12–7 p.m. at the Enercare Centre at 100 Princes Blvd., and tickets start at $32.

Word on the Street Festival

Where are Toronto’s book lovers and storytellers at? The 36th edition of The Word On The Street festival in Toronto is back this weekend, and those who love a good story won’t want to miss this one. 

This is the country’s biggest free book and magazine festivals, welcoming visitors of all ages and tastes to celebrate Canadian and Indigenous authors and check out some of their best book and magazine selections. Attendees can browse and purchase incredible books and also meet and connect with some of the most amazing literary talent out there. 

This event is happening on Saturday from 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the David Pecaut Square at 215 King Street West.

Music on the River 

This might be one of the cutest events out there for those looking to enjoy some music and beautiful autumn views. The last edition of the Music On The River is here, inviting attendees to watch a live performance from a local artist while paddling through the stunning Humber River. 

Paddle around the river for 45 minutes before settling down for an amazing concert by Toronto’s very own singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Emily Steinwall. You are also welcome to get cozy and bring your own blanket for the ride, as Humber Paddling will provide kayaks, paddles, life jackets and supporting staff to keep you safe while you enjoy the unconventional concert. 

The event is happening between 6–7 p.m. at the Humber Paddling centre at 9 Old Mill Rd., and tickets start at $10 if you bring your own canoe, or $40 if you need to rent it.

SUNDAY, SEPT. 28

Dating Event – Love Gains: Games, Gains and a Chance at Romance

Fall is here, but are you prepared for another cuffing season? STACKT Market is hosting a fun workout event, filled with fitness challenges, designed for two people, so you can bond over a passion for health and wellness and a competitive spirit, including love lunges, planks and more. The winners will get a free date, where they can get to know each other better.

Attendees will also get a lively fitness session for all levels, a vendor marketplace with dozens of food, beverage and wellness brands, refreshments and giveaways and fun icebreaker games so you can get to know other singles in the community. 

This event is happening at the STACKT Market at 28 Bathurst St. from 2–6 p.m., and tickets are free for spectators and $45 for players.

Fall for Matcha Bar Pop-Up

Ever wondered what’s the matcha version of the Pumpkin Spice Latte? You can find out this weekend, as Maker Matcha is hosting a pop-up to offer match drinkers a taste of their newest fall drinks. You can choose to sip on the classic high-grade matcha, the fan favourite Mini Matcha Flight, or try out the new flavours Pumpkin Pie Matcha with Coconut Cream or the Maple Chai Matcha Latte. 

You’ll also have the chance to check out some pop-up offers. From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., those who buy a 30g retail tin of Maker’s matcha, will have the chance to pick any matcha on the menu for free! Later on, from 2–5 p.m., there will be a BOGO sale on every matcha offered, from a classic hot matcha to the iced blueberry matcha latte.

Toronto Comic Book Show Fall

Where are Toronto’s comic book enthusiasts at? The city is about to get the biggest amount of comics under one roof, and you just cannot miss it. The Toronto Comic Book Show Fall is back with thousands of new and vintage comic books from as early as the 1900s, from professionally graded comics and key first character appearances, including the Avengers, Batman, Captain America, Wonder Woman, X-Men, Hulk and more. 

Those looking to find some comic gems without breaking the bank can also enjoy the on-site value bins, which will have thousands of comics starting at only $1. You can also browse through over a hundred table exhibits and get on-site supplies, pressing and cleaning, and Blue Chip Investment pieces. 

This show is happening at Montecassino Hotel and Event Centre at 3710 Chesswood Dr., Suite 220, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
