We’re back with another spectacular round of concerts to check out in Toronto!
For April, there is a variety of concerts to choose from ranging in different genres such as classical, country, and dance/electronic among others. These concerts reflect the city’s commitment to highlighting diverse artists and showcasing the city’s numerous entertainment venues.
At these concerts, both visitors and residents can get a taste of what the city has to offer and connect with its eclectic culture.
- Apr. 6 – Spring Symphony Concert, Meridian Hall
Presented by the Toronto Artist Symphony Orchestra, the Spring Symphony Concert features pianist JJ Jun Li Bui and renowned conductor Linhan Cui. Bui has won several prizes in both Canadian and international piano competitions, such as the 18th Chopin Competition. Meanwhile, Cui is an award-winning conductor who won the second prize in the Malko International Conducting Competition in 2021 and the third prize in the Korean Symphony Orchestra Conducting Competition.
The concert is set for Apr. 6 at 7:30 p.m., at the Meridian Arts Centre: George Weston.
Fun fact: JJ Jun Li Bui is a Toronto-native pianist who won his first piano competition at the age of seven.

2. Apr. 10 – Andrea Bocelli, Scotiabank Arena
Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli is considered to be one of the most successful living classical artists in the world. Since 1994, the artist has sold over 85 million records worldwide. Additionally, he has an impressive record of awards from Classical BRITs, World Music Awards, and ECHO Music Prizes, among others. The opera singer hardly tours, so this concert is a once in a lifetime opportunity for fans.
Bocelli will be taking his talents to Scotiabank Arena on Apr. 10 at 8 p.m.
Fun fact: Andrea Bocelli has performed for popes, presidents, royalty and many high-profile celebrities.

3. Apr. 13 – DVBBS, Rebel
Canadian duo DVBBS (pronounced dubs) will light up the stage at Rebel nightclub with their popular hits in electronic, house and dubstep. The Toronto duo was formed in 2012 and consists of Greek brothers Christopher and Alexandre van den Hoef. The duo is known for their popular songs “Tsunami,” “Stampede,” and “Gold Skies.” Their show starts at 10 p.m. on Apr. 13.
Fun fact: DVBBS has collaborated with dozens of successful artists such as Galantis, Wiz Khalifa, Steve Aoki, 2 Chainz, Roy Woods and more.

4. Apr. 25 – The Country Mixtape Tour, The Opera House
The Country Mixtape Tour is set to bring three of Canada’s rising stars, Tyler Joe Miller, Shawn Austin and Andrew Hyatt, for an experience like no other. Miller is recognized as the first independent artist with back-to-back No. 1 hits on the Billboard Canada Country.
Austin is a promising country singer who earned his first gold-certified hit with his single “Tailgate To Heaven (ft. Chris Lane).” Lastly, Hyatt recently took home the award for Rising Star at the 2022 CCMA awards.
Miller says the tour will be nostalgic for concert-goers and will include covers of songs they used to listen to on their burnt CDs. The 20-date tour will stop in Toronto on Apr. 25 at 7 p.m. at the Opera House.
Fun fact: This marks the first time long-time friends Miller, Austin and Hyatt will be going on tour together.

5. Apr. 26 – Ash Music, Danforth Music Hall
Ash is an Egyptian-French independent artist and producer with over 700 million streams. He is known for his unique blend of Egyptian and French influences in electronic music and is famous for his evocative live sessions in beautiful locations, such as the White Desert in Egypt and Akyaka in Turkey. The artist is distinguished for his use of live instruments and for incorporating these sounds into the electronic and house genre.
Ash will be performing at the Danforth Music Hall on Apr. 26 at 8 p.m.
Fun fact: Ash is a multi-instrumentalist who plays the guitar, sax, keyboard, drums and synthesizer.

6. Apr. 29 – Blue DeTiger, Velvet Underground
Blue DeTiger is an American pop singer and bass guitarist. She started to gain popularity in 2019 after releasing “In My Head” and “Mad Love.” The next year, she released “Cotton Candy Lemonade” and in 2021, she dropped her debut EP How Did We Get Here? That same year, she was dubbed the “future of bass” by Bass Player magazine.
She will be performing in Toronto on Apr. 29 at the Velvet Underground at 7 p.m.
Fun fact: The Velvet Underground is named after the legendary New York City rock band, the Velvet Underground. To pay homage, the venue continues to host a diverse range of musical acts that are both experimental and niche.
