Hundreds of cyclists will be going au naturel at the World Naked Bike Ride in downtown Toronto this weekend.

The annual bike ride is making its return to Toronto streets to celebrate its 20th anniversary. The event is a global environment protest against oil dependency and urban pollution. The group says its goal is to promote cycling safety on the city’s roads and encourage body freedom for all.

The movement began in Vancouver and now occurs in 80 cities across the world. The group’s slogan is “bare as you dare,” indicating that the choice to go nude or wear clothing is solely up to you.

The gathering is set to begin at Coronation Park at 10 a.m and the ride will begin at 1 p.m. Prior to the ride, participants can socialize, participate in body painting and bike decorating.

This year, the group has included new stops such as Sugar Beach and HTO Beach. Cyclists will also go to the CN Tower and bypass ferry docks. From there, they will head back to Queen’s Quay and make their way to Sugar Beach before ending off the ride at Coronation Park.

Cyclists are urged to come at least one hour before the ride to mingle. If you decide to rent a bike, you are advised to cover the seat. After the ride, cyclists must get dressed, organizers say.

This is a free event that requires no registration and everyone is encouraged to join.
