Canada has produced some top-level talent over the years, from musicians to actors and athletes, and a new study has revealed which Canadian celebrities are favoured most by the public.

The study by Ontario Casinos, an online casino comparison site, analyzed multiple indicators of popularity including social media following, engagement rates, and reaction to online articles to determine which Canadian-born celebrities people like best.

Justin Bieber was found to be the most popular Canadian celebrity overall, largely thanks to his massive social media presence and “overwhelmingly positive online mentions,” the study found.

Drake locked in the second spot with 50 per cent of articles written about him garnering a “favourable reader reaction.” He also has the second most significant social media presence and nearly three million monthly Google searches that underscore the interest encircling the Toronto-born artist.

The Weeknd, A.K.A Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, took third place, followed by The Notebook actress Rachel McAdams, pop singer Shawn Mendes and Barbie star Ryan Gosling.
