This Valentine’s season, TIFF Lightbox is turning love into an experience. Yury Goncharov’s interactive installation “Signs of Love” is now officially featured as part of TIFF Lighbox St. Valentine’s celebration. The project speaks to a simple yet essential truth: we are not meant to do this alone and a human needs another human.
From “Do Not Enter” to “No Weight Limit,” the work plays with the emotional signs we carry into relationships (the boundaries, fears, expectations) and gently invites us to rewrite them.
And honestly… it might be the perfect place to propose.
The artist already witnessed one unforgettable proposal during his exhibition at DesignTO and we have a feeling it won’t be the last.

“Signs of Love” is a reminder that love, in all its forms, begins with the simple act of being present for one another. Through a series of familiar, sign-inspired symbols, Yury Goncharov explores themes of care, trust, vulnerability, and connection. By transforming everyday visual language into an art installation, the project invites visitors to pause and reflect on the emotional “signs” we carry into relationships, as well as our boundaries, fears, and hopes. Rather than telling people what to think, the work creates space for personal interpretation. It encourages us to consider what truly matters and to choose connection, kindness, and openness in a world often focused on status or material success.
We usually only recall prohibitive signs. It is time to spread some love and let people be free within the cityscape, isn’t it?
