Another Life

Offbeat taco stand Seven Lives (214 Augusta, at Baldwin, 416-803-1086, sevenlives.ca) is about to move from its current digs in the low-rent Kensington Market food court that launched Agave y Aguacate and Rock Lobster into the now-defunct Miss Cora’s Kitchen at 69 Kensington. Once the home of Pizzabilities ‘R’ Endless, the spatially challenged storefront will feature owner/chef Sean Riehl’s signature SoCal tacos, tostadas and smoked fish plates.

Watch for the 15-seat take-away to open as early as the first week of April. What other changes can we expect?

“Hopefully, we’ll be a little more legitimate,” says Riehl.

Peripatetic chef Jeff Claudio is leaving Yours Truly on Ossington, to be replaced by Splendido and Nota Bene vet Lachlan Culjak. Claudio – who lists such names as Thomas Keller’s Per Se in New York City, Charlie Trotter’s eponymous flagship in Chicago and René Redzepi’s Noma in Copenhagen on his culinary CV – is said to have split “to travel.” Big surprise there.

And County General’s Grant Legree has been hired to helm the kitchen of Little Anthony’s on Richmond West in the core, all the better to take on the imminent arrival of the Drake 150 down the block.
