Food & Drink

Bar none

Located in an intentionally anonymous space on the ground floor of a condo just around the corner from the equally hard-to-find original, the long-delayed Bar Buca (75 Portland, at King W, 416-599-2822, buca.ca, @bucatoronto) didn’t so much open yesterday as explode.

By 1 pm, the takeaway cum 40-seat casual trat was wall-to-wall foodistas chowing down on the La Dolce Vita likes of executive chef Rob Gentile’s rustic focaccia sandwiches stuffed with house-cured bresola and plates piled with Sicilian-style goat meatballs.

Bar Buca opens daily for coffee and biscotti from 7 am with the all-day menu kicking in at 11 am and running straight through till 2 am. And no, they don’t take reservations.
