Spending three months in lockdown, with nowhere to go and nothing to do, has inevitably taught us some valuable lessons. For instance, we now know that we’re stronger when we act together and that Joe Exotic from Tiger King ran for president in 2016. As our cities and communities begin to open up again and we continue to navigate the “new normal,” it’s important that we remember everything we’ve learned. To help, we’ve compiled some of our key learnings from this truly unprecedented time.
Sweatsuits are perfectly acceptable work attire
If working from home has taught us anything, it’s that wearing ironed slacks, restrictive suit jackets, or underwire bras is truly a form of punishment. There really isn’t anything that we can’t get done while wearing sweatpants, which leads us to believe that they’ll continue to be a closet staple, even upon returning to the office.
We need to take good care of our health
After spending three months self-isolating at home, many of us have been trying to find ways to stay healthy and happy while avoiding the dreaded Quarantine 15. We have swapped greasy bags of chips with chopped vegetables and six-packs of sugary coolers with healthier beverage options like SoCIAL LITE vodka sodas.
The Toronto-based company sparked an international craze when it launched the first ready to drink vodka soda beverage in Canada in 2014. SoCIAL LITE is Canada’s original vodka soda and fills every colourful can with premium Canadian vodka, soda and 100 per cent natural flavours.
“We are all trying to live balanced lifestyles and many people are now more health conscious than ever,” says Neetu Godara, co-founder of SoCIAL LITE. “We still want to be social and have a good time but we also want to be healthy – and I think SoCIAL LITE provides people with a perfect option.”
Vodka soda lovers can enjoy new flavours this summer like the Triple Berry Vodka Soda, Lime Gin Soda or the new Bold Vodka Soda Orange that comes with an extra kick, clocking in at six per cent ABV. You can choose one of SoCIAL LITE’s classic flavours like Grapefruit Pomelo, Lime Ginger, Field Strawberry, Pineapple Mango and more. With zero sugar, zero sweeteners and no artificial flavours, you don’t have to feel guilty about indulging after long day of working from your couch.
Plus, SoCIAL LITE vodka sodas are only 80 calories per can so you don’t need to limit yourself to just one – you’ll still fit into your pants tomorrow.
We should all support more local businesses
Although we love to see small and independent businesses thrive in our communities, the COVID-19 pandemic has forced many businesses to close and left others with financial challenges. Beloved local enterprises need our support now, more than ever.
“It’s the local companies that give back to the community,” says Godara. “Since the pandemic started, we have put $20,000 into supporting local restaurants within the communities that SoCIAL LITE operates in.”
“We also want to help raise awareness of other great Canadian brands,” says Godara. “Fans can check out our Instagram page as we’re hosting seven days of Canadian Giveaways leading up to Canada Day to highlight and bring attention to other phenomenal Canadian companies.”
Video chat dates are no substitute for seeing your friends in-person
Spending time with your best buds over a video chat app just isn’t the same – with the interruptions, bad lighting and unfortunate screenshots. It’s no surprise that the novelty of video happy hour with your friends wore off really fast. While we gave it a fair shot, technology simply cannot replace days spent at the beach or weekend getaways but we’ll be able to resume these activities soon. For now, we can happily toast with our best friends through the screen.
You can get booze delivered to your door
Delivery services have been a lifesaver during self-isolation and that includes thebeerguy.ca. Even though we’re being encouraged to stay home that doesn’t mean that we need to painfully surrender our love for vodka sodas.
Through thebeerguy.ca, residents of Ontario can get their favourite bevvies delivered to their home in less than two hours without ever entering a store. Even post-pandemic, we can continue to save time and energy by having SoCIAL LITE beverages delivered directly to our homes. We’ll definitely be ordering the new SoCIAL LITE Lime Gin Soda Lime Triple Berry Vodka Soda for hot summer weekends in the backyard.
