Guu 2 delayed… again!

Although it was set to open tonight in time for St. Patrick’s Day, the Annex outpost of Guu (559 Bloor W, at Bathurst, 647-343-1101) has postponed its hotly anticipated launch till this Sunday the 20th.

“Our liquor license wasn’t approved until late Wednesday,” says the izakya’s James HyunSoo Kim. “And there are still some things we need to work on to serve our customers better.”

First up is booze, several truck loads in fact. Without a license, Kim has been unable to stock up on beer and sake, two of the key ingredients in the Vancouver-based resto chain’s success.

Stone-cold sober, Guu comes across as a crowded sushi joint where the staff orally abuse the customers in Japanese. Knock back a bucket-load of sake mojtos and Guu’s the wildest party in town, albeit one with a two-hour limit.

Guu gate-crashers will also want to note that both locations have changed their hours. The doors now open Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 4 pm, an hour earlier then before. See you Sunday!
