Jennifer Agg and Grant van Gameran have announced on their blog that the Hoof Café (923 Dundas W, at Gore Vale, 416-792-7511, theblackhoof.com) will be dishing up its last plate of suckling pig Eggs Benny on February 28th.
The pair hope to launch the extremely small former sandwich shop as Black Hoof & Company in April.
But here's the twist! For the first time, the 18-seat room will take reservations for its two nightly tasting menus. BH & C will also only be open Thursday through Saturday night.
"Restaurants that are open 7 days a week are rarely progressive," van Gameran says in the blog, "If you give cooks time to think, you will see better food on the plate."
The original Black Hoof (928 Dundas W, at Gore Vale, 416-551-8854) across the street will continue under current co-chef Colin Tooke.
