Wine: seasonal sharing bottles

RODENBACH VINTAGE 2013

Rating: NNNN

Why Each year, while blending their Grand Cru release, Rodenbach selects one foeder, in this case a ginormous oak cask of their finest two-year-old beer, to become their annual Vintage release. Currently available, though likely not for much longer, the 2013 Vintage is a layered dialogue between acid and oak that brings to mind creamy balsamic-soaked berries. A beer that wine drinkers will appreciate.

BEAU’S NEW LANG SYNE

Rating: NNNN

Why The debacle of New Year’s is behind us, and that’s reason alone to celebrate with a bottle of Beau’s limited-edition Belgian-style Tripel (Trappist monks’ term for the strongest beer brewed with three times the malt). Partially aged in white wine barrels, it’s bright and fruity (think fruits of the tropical variety) – and perfect for toasting life.

Price 750 ml/$16
