Lights, camera, action! Nope, not that kind of action.

A new survey is exposing a dirty secret among Canadian movie-goers: nearly half of them admit they’ve had sex at the movies.

Gambling review site Time2play conducted a study this month which surveyed nearly 1,500 adults over the age of 18. The study revealed many of them have done the deed while at the theatre.

However, researchers say it’s not just the young folks who are getting frisky under the bigscreen, but also baby boomers and millennials. The latter steals the spotlight with 91 per cent of millennials being the most likely to engage in public sex, compared to Generation Z.

On the other hand, one in 10 Canadians over 55 years old, have admitted to having movie theatre sex.

Furthermore, the survey says 61 per cent of Canadians have given in to temptation, engaging in public make-out sessions and of these movie-goers, seven per cent were even caught in the act.

“An audacious one in five Canadians (21 per cent) have escalated these liaisons into fully blown sexual encounters,” the survey said.

Surprisingly, among this percentage, only two per cent were caught.

CANADIAN PROVINCES WITH THE HOTS FOR THE MOVIES

From motion-pictures to making love, Canadians across the country are combining their joy for movies with their sexual desires.

Out of all the provinces, Quebec topped the list with an average of one in ten Quebecers confessing to having sex at the movies. Meanwhile, British Columbia and Ontario trailed behind at eight and seven per cent, respectively.

WHAT ELSE GOES ON BEHIND THE CURTAINS?

In addition to knocking boots, the survey also found that one in three (31 per cent) Canadian movie-goers have smuggled booze into the cinema and 29 per cent have witnessed someone getting completely drunk during a movie.

“An eye-popping 42 per cent confessed to walking into the theatre already under the influence of mind-altering substances,” the survey read.

And that’s not all, a whopping 69 per cent of millennials admit to using drugs at the theatre too.
