A Toronto woman shared a unique and unconventional way to get someone’s attention and you’ll want to hear it.

Content creator Michelle (@messnamedmichelle) recently went viral by sharing that she used to stamp guys’ hands at bars to give them her contact details because she was too shy to talk to them.

“Oh the single and desperate days,” she captioned the video, which  now sits at over 2.4 million views.

In the video, she demonstrates the stamp that reads in black ink, “you’re cute and I’m cute. You should hit me up if you’re single,” along with her Instagram handle.

“My friends and I were always more to ourselves when we went out, especially when we were young and first on the bar/club scene, so it was a great way to get conversations flowing without actually having to first go up and talk to someone,” she told Now Toronto on Friday.

Michelle says she would often see girls giving out bracelets with their numbers but she believed that was far too much work, and she had a better idea.

She bought a $22 personalized stamp that can be used at least 5,000 times before going dry.

“A multi-use stamp popped into my head. It did work for a friend of mine, but for me it was more one-time conversations at the bar, nothing that ever carried into weeks later. My friends did get some free drinks out of it though,” she said.

This week, her story was picked up by multiple U.S. media outlets, something she didn’t see coming.

“A lot of my TikTok following is in the U.S., but the majority is in Canada, so it is interesting that the story mostly touched down in the U.K. and U.S. But all in all, I am glad to share the idea with everyone, Canada or the U.S., because it truly was a fun and unique experience.”

And when it comes to Toronto’s infamous dating scene, she says despite the bad reputation, she can’t argue with the diversity to choose from. But she notes that meeting people in general can be stressful and a scary thing for women to navigate.

“Not knowing if there’s stranger danger is a real turnoff from approaching people, but the stamp made it easier because they would follow me on social media and then I could look at their profile before determining if they are someone sketchy or not.”
