Japanophiles should check out the Just Japan event tonight (August 11) from 5 to 8 pm at the Bata Shoe Museum (327 Bloor West). Part of Steppin’ Out Thursdays , the program (with help from the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre ) touches on traditional footwear and includes sipping green tea, making your own sweet manju cakes, whipping up some origami, listening to a Japanese flute and koto and watching the graceful movements of the traditional Odori dance. 416-979-7799, www.batashoemuseum.ca.
