Molo makes the short list
Congrats to Vancouver-based designers Todd MacAllen and Stephanie Forsythe of Molo , whose Softwall has been short-listed for the 2005 INDEX Awards honouring design innovations that improve quality of life. Softwall’s unique expanding lightweight structure totally fits the bill. Molo’s got lots on the go, including an upcoming installation at the Smithsonian’s Cooper Hewitt Design Museum in New York. Go, Molo. www.molodesign.com.
Franco-fun
August 24 saw the North American debut of France’s très trendy Red Soul and Soul Edge designer jeanswear labels. Nope, not in New York or L.A., but here in T.O at the Drake ‘s Sky Yard . With beaucoup beautiful people, DJ Joe Rizla on decks, yummy eats and a special musical performance by Matisse and the Playground, it was world class all the way. Watch for the spring collections at stores like City Rags (617 College, 416-534-8887) and Mudo Clothing (660 Yonge, 416-966-9555) this March. www.souledge.com.
