Georgie Bolesworth

Rating: NNNNN

Nestled in a still-unmarketed section of Dundas West lies retail treasure Georgie Bolesworth. This little boutique, the brainchild of stylist Georgia Groom (pictured), is like no other shopping destination. For one thing, the racks are not only lined with item after item of must-have womenswear, but they’re also all designed by Canadians. But this ain’t no CanCon pity buy. “First, the clothes are good. Second, they’re Canadian,” says the British-born style maven. And they really are good.

Part of the store’s timeless charm lies in the fact that the clothes it sells will still be in style 10 years from now, which is rare in this time of disposable wardrobes and split-second trends. The incredible service doesn’t hurt either. Because Georgia works styling videos and movies, her mind is a product list ready to accessorize whatever outfit is thrown at her.

“It’s funny – there’ll be times when a customer is trying something on and I can suggest where they can find the perfect brooch to go with their outfit,” she laughs.

Open only a year and half, this boutique has grown from one small rack to several, and there are plans to expand into the back room. Good going, Georgie Bolesworth. That’s what you get for supporting Canadian fashion.

Georgia’s picks: (from top) Mercy dress, $280 Victoria’s Knickers underwear, $40 and Véronique Miljkovitch skirt, $260.

Look for: The best in progressive Canadian fashion, a great cup of tea and Groom’s invaluable fashion advice.

Hours: Wednesday to Sunday, noon to 6 pm. Georgie Bolesworth 891 Dundas West, 416-703-7625
