Canadians are looking to travel as spring approaches, and Google has revealed Rome, Shanghai and Athens are on the top of their list of destinations this year.
Google ranks March and April among some of the biggest travel months for Canadians following the cold winter months.
“As Canadians plan for both spring and summer travel this year, we’re seeing a strong rebound of interest in both European and Asian destinations. Destinations like Rome, Shanghai and Athens are topping the list, and are bouncing back for the first time since the pandemic. We’re also seeing increased searches for sun destinations as travellers look to escape the last of winter, with searches for numerous cities in Florida, Hawaii and the Dominican Republic topping the list,” Matt Smith, head of Travel for Google Canada, said in a statement.
Google says flight searches are exceeding pre-COVID-19 levels in 2019 as travellers are eager to plan their next vacation.
Travellers in Canada are also open to new experiences and influences when deciding where to go, as the Google search “where to travel” has reached new highs within the last year, according to the search engine.
