Let It Ride

Rating: NNNNN

Given that it’s located within a mile of, like, every elementary and secondary school in the Beach, can you give a wonder as to why the Let It Ride skate shop does so well in an otherwise traditionally yuppie outpost? Sure, kids with bucks are a very good reason, but they wouldn’t be parting with all that allowance money if it weren’t for the seriously good shit on the shelves. Thanks to fellow rider and owner Clayton York ‘s seasoned eye, the snowboards, bindings, boots, clothing, accessories, skateboards and shoes at Let It Ride inevitably boast exclusivity points – mostly in a limited-edition kind of way. Not just big on the street-style finds, the shop also features a solid BS-free board service department.

York’s picks: Limited-edition DC Clientele Remix sneakers (designed by Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park), $150 Endeavor Live Series board $559.45 (comes with Freeform recon bindings) Special Blend Tryce jacket in denim, $270 Special Blend Havana pants, $220 Dragon DXS goggles, $120 and DC toque, $40.

Look for: In-store skate pro autograph signings, a killer selection of Red Dragon merch and skate brands such as RVCA, Obey and Circa.

Hours: Monday to Wednesday 1 to 8 pm, Thursday to Friday 1 to 9 pm, Saturday 10 am to 7 pm, Sunday noon to 5 pm.
