Propaganda, 686 Yonge, 416-961-0555; www.propaganda.bz
After six years on the road working as a sales agent in the wholesale jewellery business, Regina Sheung tossed her sales pitch out the window and opted for retail. Using her extensive knowledge base to her advantage, she launched très trendy accessories shop Propaganda in 2000. Lined with floor-to-ceiling glass cases, this Yonge Street must-shop is a retail museum of Canada's cutest on-trend merch. If you're looking for the perfect girly yet cool present for a persnickety fashionista, Propaganda won't disappoint. From affordable rings and trinkets to statement jewellery, from all manner of wallets and handbags to designer fashions, Propaganda deserves props for supplying a demand that is elsewhere unmet.
Sheung knows her buyer: open-minded and young (or is that Yonge?) at heart. Just try leaving the store without saying, "Ohmygawd, that's so cute!" I triple-dog-dare you. Sheung's picks : Handmade leather photo frame clutch, $35, and leather flower, $28, both by Montreal-based Roadkill; beaded Cosmic Angel necklace, $58.
Look for : I Heart Bacon clutches by Roadkill, Oligarchy clothing, killer winter coats by Q, and Kari Lynn ceramic jewellery.
Hours : Monday to Saturday 11 am to 7 pm, Sunday 1 to 5 pm.
