What does style mean to you? Style is an ongoing process without rules, unlike trend that celebrates “l’art du moment.” It’s about confidence, creative reappropriation and individuality. Style is a melange of personal history and fantasy . . . the relationship between visual identity and art.
What is your personal style? Being in vintage, I’ve come to draw a lot of inspiration from the 1940s and 50s. I have an unjustifiably large collection of vintage hats and poodle skirts and I often wear pumps, even on my road bike. I buy mostly vintage and I’m not into major labels, unless it’s something really amazing like my mom’s old Armani suit. I support local designers and independent boutiques as much as possible and I wish that more people did the same.
I feel naked without: Black eyeliner.
Favourite part of Toronto? The Sunday Antique Market at St Lawrence.
