548 Danforth, 416-778-6820 Rating: NNNNN
Take one look at Mary Labiri's fierce personal style and you'll understand why her three-month-old boutique, Studio Labiri - which she runs with her sister, Tia - has put the Greektown shop on the shopaholic's map.
Labiri (that's her, top right), a fashionista since early days working at her parents' Danforth landmark, Labiri Shoes (across the street), studied fashion and merchandising at the Academy of Design, and, man, do the racks ever testify to the breadth of her travel and education. Not only are they coded by designer, but they're also grouped in complementary colourways for easy mix-and-matchability.
Well stocked with a who's who of Canadian designers (think Arthur Mendonça, CinCyn, Marisa K, Rita D, Tryna), this is the one-stop shop for everything from sophisticated workwear staples to sequined dresses and all the summer separates in between.
Labiri's picks: Rose dress by CinCyn, $350; necklace by Hey Lady, $250; brown linen jacket, $445, with orange tank, $160, and embroidered skirt, $465, all by Canadian-in-Paris Tara Jarmon; blouse by Arthur Mendonça, $390; striped jacket by Tara Jarmon, $555; and True Religion jeans, $265.
Look for: A signature line of separates designed by Mary Labiri set to debut soon; Page Premium Denim; the addition of designer labels Chocolat, Spy and Marie Saint-Pierre this fall; and the launch of the store's website.
Store hours: Monday to Wednesday 10:30 am to 7 pm, Thursday and Friday 10:30 am to 9 pm, Saturday 10:30 am to 6 pm, Sunday 1 to 5 pm.
