The week’s news, views and sales

Stripe spotted

In its never-ending campaign to blanket the world in its signature stripes, The Bay (176 Yonge, 416-861-9111, and others, thebay.com) is collaborating with Converse (converse.com) on a collection of footwear featuring the multicoloured bands. Available as a Jack Purcell sneaker, duck boot or slip-on in nappy wool with antique brass eyelets, the styles are priced between $120 and $140.

Crate & Barrel

Continuing on the collaboration track, Crate & Barrel (Yorkdale, 3401 Dufferin, 416-657-4100, crateandbarrel.ca) has just released a housewares lineup created in partnership with Italian designer Paola Navone. Highlights of the 140-plus-piece collection include oversized cage-light chandeliers, ceramics glazed in a deep Mediterranean blue and contemporary furniture pieces like a seafoam-hued chair and a triple-back bench.

Heart these shirts

Express your Toronto pride with clothing and accessory label HeartBeats T.O. (heartbeatsto.bigcartel.com). The collection includes T-shirts, tank tops, baby onesies, baseball caps and more featuring a cardiac monitor line interrupted by the silhouette of the CN Tower. There’s also a baseball shirt inspired by a vintage Blue Jays uniform.

Shangri-La di da

Next time you stop by the Shangri-La (188 University, 647-788-8888, shangri-la.com/toronto) for your Momofuku noodle fix, peek into the hotel’s lobby lounge and check out the spiffy new uniforms designed by VAWK’s Sunny Fong. Drawing on the hotel’s (and his own) Asian background, the looks are inspired by graphic prints of Ming dynasty vases.
