Toronto is known for many things, for better and worse.
And we’ve all heard the stereotypes surrounding the Canadian accent, but what about the Toronto one?
A fellow resident has set the internet on fire after a video of her speaking went viral, and people had a lot to say about it. Some found it incredibly hilarious, while others believed it was downright absurd.
The video that made the rounds on TikTok was a clip from an interview on the Seeking Success Podcast, that featured a Toronto woman discussing the importance of taking care of your mother, especially if you come into wealth.

“What I don’t like is if the business is true and you left your moms in the hood, somebody go smoke that yute,” she said.
“You don’t leave your moms nowhere. You have money and you left your moms there? Yo, you’re sick to my stomach,” she continued.
The video garnered over four million views and nearly 10 thousand comments as of publication. Some asked what on Earth she was saying and whether or not this was a riddle.
However, most people supported the accent and found the silver lining in it.
“Toronto accent is goofy but I mess with it,” one user wrote.
“Idk y’all. I be liking the accent sometimes,” another user said.
“It’s crazy [because] you understand everything. And I agree [with] her but the accent and slang is killing me,” someone else shared.
The video was even picked up by major U.S podcast BFFs Pod..
In an episode, they gave their take on it and asked if this was the worst accent in the world?
“The Toronto accent feels so forced,” one user said.
“I want everyone to know that this is an exaggerated dialect. People don’t naturally speak like this in Toronto,” another said.
