XIT Designs 40 Blue Jays Way, 416-778-0823, www.xitdesigns.com
After moving from Queen East - where XIT launched in 1991- to downtown digs at the Soho Metropolitan Hotel and Condos in November 2003, XIT Designs has seen a lot of traffic, from both tourists and locals. What's the draw? The incredible selection of imported and Canadian decor and design pieces. From furniture to jewellery, from soap to stemware and all manner of high-end tchotchkes in between, owner and former jewellery designer Kim Halfyard 's strong knowledge base is what keeps the stock so fresh and the National Retail Awards piling up. Whether you're searching out gifts for the design-savvy or just looking around, thanks to the reasonable price points you can pretty much guarantee you won't leave empty-handed.
