8Ball and MJG, the kings of Orange Mound, Memphis, are back with their 11th studio album, and it doesn’t deviate from their hard-hitting formula of grimy Southern culture imbued with soul and gospel.

The duo teams up with Lil Boosie on the ominous title track, with Slim Thug on the solemn, horn-heavy Life Goes On and with Young Dro on the organ-driven standout Bring It Back, while noted Southern producers Drumma Boy, David Banner and Nitti lend an organic feel.
It doesn’t quite stack up to a classic like Space Age 4 Eva, but Ten Toes Down is still a strong addition to the 8Ball and MJG catalogue.
