Adult. are back to being a duo again for this album, and although that hasn’t completely banished the guitar, the emphasis on bleeps and discordant synths is greater than on their last outing. Why Bother sounds like it would be fun to see live in a dive bar, but at home it’s a little grating to listen to from start to finish. It’s strange, dark, noisy electro-punk with lots of manic off-key shrieking. That will or won’t sound appealing to you.
Adult. play Wednesday (April 4) at Lee’s Palace.
