JOEY RAMONE Don’t Worry About Me (Sanctuary/EMI) Rating: NNNN Rating: NNNN
Knowing how lame posthumously released albums can be, it was with some trepidation that I hit play on the late Joey Ramone’s parting statement. But happily, it doesn’t sound at all like one of those slapped-together jobs where studio hacks are called in to whack together half-finished ideas from demo tapes. Don’t Worry About Me boasts better songwriting and playing than the last few Ramones albums, with Joey singing strong, free of any ironic or goofy pose. A classy final bow.
