SHAUN RYDER

SHAUN RYDER Amateur Night In The Big Top (Fusion III) Rating: N

Rating: N

Drug casualties don’t come much more entertaining than Shaun Ryder. The former Happy Mondays squealer became a living billboard for the perils of crack and heroin after his spectacular and public self-destruction. For years he was thrilled to tell gruesome tales of his life in the gutter for all interested parties. The sad thing is that years later he doesn’t seem to have anything else to say. Bereft of musical ideas, Ryder pairs up with his cousin for a disc looking back at the rough old days. Amateur Night In The Big Top features Ryder muttering about drugs, girls and mayhem (at least that’s what the slurred buzzing sounds like) over prefab dance beats. The most profound moments are the curse words. Parents keen on educating their kids on the dangers of hard drugs should pick this up.
