THE pharcyde Plain Rap (Delicious Vinyl/Edel) Rating: NNA shoo-in for a Truth In Advertising award, the Pharcyde’s Plain Rap is about as generic as Left Coast hiphop gets. Even though producers Showbiz and J-Swift have added a bit of beat variety to Slimkid 3’s tired thump, without the spirited wordplay of Fat Lip and Tre — who’ve long since split — surviving rhymers Bootie Brown and Imani can’t stir up enough lyrical excitement between them to create even the illusion of a good time.
