The Flosstradamus story is all about what happens when you know how to get people dancing.

“We started out doing a little party in Chicago called Get Outta The Hood,” says Curt Cameruci, aka DJ Autobot, from a bench somewhere in San Francisco, “and somehow we’ve blown up without putting out an album or anything.”

They do, however, now have an untitled album in the works. Formed in 2005, Flosstradamus, composed of Autobot and J2K (né Josh Young), have signed to Fool’s Gold Records, aligned themselves with big names like Chromeo and A-Trak through hard work and personal connections, and recorded a mix CD for Scion.

Though known primarily for their crowd-pleasing song selection and remixing skills, their gems run deep. At a Flosstradamus show, expect to hear everything from Lil Jon to the Swedish House Mafia.

“You need to check out this guy from Belgium called Lazy Jay,” exclaims Autobot.

Since their last visit in February, the boys have been itching to revisit Toronto and its culture.

“We always have a super-good time in Canada – something about the crowds. We never want to leave,” says Cameruci with a chuckle, “but what I’m really looking forward to is the coffee.”
