What Toronto restaurant do you like to eat at before a show?
Timmy Ho's, because you can get a coffee mug bigger than your head and something called Timbits for under $5. I'm an expert bargain hunter/coupon clipper.
What club do you hit when you want to party after the gig?
I don't really party after my shows any more. I kinda outgrew that when my shows started ending at 4 and 5 am. I am too grown for that ish!!
Who's your favourite Toronto artist?
I really like Peaches. Her music's real fun, and her personality is even more so - super-sweet and full of wisdom. I like to call her Auntie Pee-Pee or Auntie Merrill.
What do you love most about Toronto?
That my friend Sana lives here. Hey, Sanagirrrrl, I see you!!!!
What do you hate about the city?
Nothin'. It's lovely!
Hotel of choice?
Ha, ha. We don't usually have a choice. I just like hotels where I don't have to sleep with my clothes on.
How do you spend your day off in Toronto?
I've never had a day off in Toronto. I'm a workaholic.
What was your biggest misconception about Toronto?
That it was stodgy and business-centred. Toronto has a nice little vibe goin', and may I just say, some of the best brunch spots on earth.
Most memorable border-crossing experience heading to Toronto?
There once was a man travelling from Cameroon who smuggled smoked eels in his checked luggage. The whole search room smelled like a smoky aquarium!
What was the wildest time you've ever had in Toronto?
Riding to sound check with the promoter in the trunk.
