The province of Ontario is bailing out Drake after initially turning him down.
Earlier this year his label, OVO Sound, requested $300,000 in provincial funding for OVO Fest, happening at the Molson Amphitheatre on August 2 and 3, but it was denied. The Ontario Music Fund through its Music Futures program did step in with a much smaller amount – $45,000 – to assist the OVO Sound label.
A previous version of this article incorrectly stated that the $45,000 went to OVO Fest.
