The Polaris Music Prize and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra have struck a partnership that will see members of the TSO performing alongside some of this year’s short-list nominees at the Polaris gala at the Carlu on September 21.
Additionally, this year’s winner will have an opportunity to perform with the TSO at a concert at Roy Thomson Hall in 2016. (Is the possibility of seeing Over and Trophies performed with a live orchestra enough reason to give it to short-list nominee Drake? Hell, the TSO already has a Drake medley in its repertoire.)
Nominees set to perform at this year’s event are Alvvays, Braids, Jennifer Castle, Tobias Jesso Jr., Buffy Sainte-Marie and Viet Cong.
The other nominees are Drake, BadbadNotGood, Caribou
