Pussy Riot is still on

Pussy Riot’s Nadezhda Tolokonnikova was back in the news last week, arrested in Moscow on June 12 while peacefully demonstrating in support of female prisoners.

The feminist punk activist and a fellow protester were marking the Russia Day holiday by sewing together fabric strips in the colours of the country’s flag to spell out “Prison Camp Russia” while dressed in prisoners’ garb. She was released later that day.

Tolokonnikova and her Pussy Riot cohort Maria Alyokhina are scheduled to lead the Pride parade on June 28 as International Grand Marshals, and despite the arrest the pair are “absolutely still planning on coming,” according to a Pride Toronto rep.
