Say goodbye forever

After six years of performing the music of Weezer, local cover act Sheezer are calling it a day. After Robin HatchAlysha HaugenLaura Barrett, Magali Meagher and Dana Snell started performing together in 2009, they quickly received a Twitter co-sign from Rivers Cuomo and grew into a nationally touring rock outfit.

The group’s farewell gig takes place at Lee’s Palace on August 7.

In other makeups-to-breakups news, there are some new heavily made-up faces in Toronto noh wave outfit Yamantaka // Sonic Titan. Founding member and lead singer Ruby Kato Attwood and guitarist John Ancheta have left the band, replaced by vocalist Joanna-Delos Reyes and guitarist Hiroki Tanaka. The group did not give a reason for the departures.

Toronto fans can sample the new incarnation at Paper Bag’s NXNE show at Lee’s Palace on June 18 and at the Harbourfront Centre’s Party On The Block on July 11.
