Toronto summer-long music festival Electric Island has joined several international festivals in blacklisting Ten Walls, aka Marijus Adomaitis, after the Lithuanian producer posted homophobic comments to his personal Facebook last week.
Although he removed the offending remarks and apologized, the level of vitriol in the post, which included liken-ing homosexuality to pedophilia, was shocking enough to cause his booking agency and European fests Creamfields, Sonar and PITCH, among others, to drop him.
In a Facebook post on Monday, Electric Island organizers called the comments “offensive, not acceptable and out of line with the fundamentals and spirit of the electronic music community we cherish.”
Adomaitis performed at the concert series’ Victoria Day edition but “will no longer be performing at [future] Electric Island” events, according to the statement.
