There’s nothing spectacular about what the Acorn are doing on The Pink Ghosts, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a beautiful disc. If you wanted to define in one album the sound that would best suit the arch, quirky, low-key films of Hal Hartley, this might be it. With a quasi-melancholy buoyant pop that evokes suburban pastoral narratives, the Acorn have cut an album of frictionless listenability. The Acorn launch their CD at the Cameron tonight (Thursday, October 7).
