The mayoral race is heating up in Toronto, and advanced voting is now open. From June 8 to 13 between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m., eligible voters can cast their ballots at any available voting location in Toronto.
This option makes voting more convenient for busy people in the city and is available for this election as there is only one race going on, and only one ballot.
However, on election day, coming up on June 26, voters have to cast a ballot at their designated voting location.
The city is reminding people that locations are subject to change, so voters should double-check their designated location before heading out.
There are 102 candidates running to be the next mayor of Toronto.
According to a poll from Forum Research, Olivia Chow is the top candidate, with 38 per cent of those surveyed on June 2 saying they were voting for her. The poll shows Mark Saunders as the runner-up with 13 per cent, followed by Josh Mattlow at 12 per cent, Anthony Furey at 10 per cent, Ana Bailãowith eight per cent, and Mitzie Hunter with seven per cent.
The survey also found that 19 per cent of those polled were still undecided.
The research company reports that those surveyed said that the most important issues for them in the upcoming election are housing affordability and the cost of living and inflation.
The poll was conducted on June 2 with results based on a telephone survey of 1,032 randomly selected Toronto residents, 18 and older. The survey results are considered accurate plus or minus three per cent, 19 times out of 20.
