What to know
- Bonnie Crombie leads the Mississauga mayoral race with 35 per cent support, followed by Alvin Tedjo at 31 per cent and incumbent Carolyn Parrish at 28 per cent, according to Liaison Strategies.
- Both Crombie and Tedjo have gained five percentage points since Liaison’s Oct. 5 poll, while Tedjo has climbed from 12 per cent support in August.
- A separate Mainstreet Research poll also puts Crombie in the lead, reinforcing signs of a competitive race ahead of election day.
- Advance voting reached 44,049 ballots, up 57 per cent from the 2022 municipal election.
With just four days until Mississauga voters head to the polls, new polling suggests a tight mayoral race, with challenger Bonnie Crombie narrowly leading the field.
A new report from Liaison Strategies, released Thursday, puts Crombie at 35 per cent support among decided and leaning voters, followed by city councillor Alvin Tedjo at 31 per cent.
Incumbent Mayor Carolyn Parrish sits in third place with 28 per cent support, while Dipika Damerla trails with four per cent.
The results mark a five-point gain for both Crombie and Tedjo since Liaison’s Oct. 5 poll. Tedjo’s rise is particularly notable since he was polling at just 12 per cent in August.
“That is a very different campaign from the one we were looking at two months ago, when Crombie and Parrish were tied at 35 per cent. Crombie has recovered her August share, while Parrish has not,” Valentin said in a news release.
Crombie has more support among women
Gender breakdowns may help explain Crombie’s lead, though the numbers suggest she has little room to spare according to Valentin.
“Among decided and leaning men, she has 41 per cent, compared with 29 per cent for Tedjo and 26 per cent for Parrish,” Valentin said.
Among women, however, the race is much closer. Tedjo leads with 33 per cent, followed by Crombie at 30 per cent and Parrish at 29 per cent.
The poll also shows a slight shift in how voters view Parrish. Her disapproval rating fell from 42 per cent to 37 per cent, while her approval rating dipped one point, from 38 per cent to 37 per cent.
Liaison surveyed a random sample of 1,000 Mississauga residents from Oct. 19 to 20, 2026, using interactive voice response (IVR) technology. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points, 19 times out of 20, for the full sample. The margin of error is higher for smaller subgroups, including decided and leaning voters.
Crombie also leads in Mainstreet Research poll
A separate poll from Mainstreet Research also puts Crombie in the lead, with 33.6 per cent support, followed by Tedjo at 28.4 per cent. Parrish ranks third at 26.2 per cent, while Damerla has 4.5 per cent.
The close contest comes as Mississauga reports a significant increase in advance voting. A total of 44,049 voters cast ballots ahead of election day, a 57 per cent increase over the 2022 municipal election, when 28,052 advance votes were recorded.
The mayoral race has featured major campaign promises, including Crombie’s proposal to extend the TTC’s Line 2 subway into Mississauga.
Tedjo, meanwhile, has campaigned on affordability, pledging to permanently freeze property taxes for eligible seniors.
Mississauga’s municipal election takes place Oct. 26.
