A Calgary man has won the lottery for the second time in four years.

Osman Adam took home $5 million in the Oct. 9 LOTTO 6/49 Classic draw, about three-and-a-half years after winning $1 million in the LOTTO MAX in May 2021.

Adam spent his 2021 winnings on a house and car, which he says he is still very happy with.

“I look at it like, I just bought a new vehicle [when I won] last time…I liked it three years ago, and I don’t want a new one now,” he told the Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC) after his most recent win, adding that he has a few additional ideas following the $5-million top up.

“I’d like to look into investing, real estate, stocks, and bonds, that sort of thing. I’m feeling very focused this time around,” he said, adding that he felt at ease following his second bout of luck.

“I felt calm and collected when I saw the amount, but that might have been because I had to count the zeroes a few times,” he explained.

A vacation may also be on the cards for Adam.

“I’m looking into taking a trip across the pond to visit some family,” he continued.

Adam bought his ticket from a 7-Eleven at 5300 17 Ave. SE in Calgary, and the winning numbers were 20, 22, 23, 36, 46 and 47.

The Calgary native is not the only Canadian to win the lottery more than once in recent times.

In October, Vincent Charlemagne of Thornhill, Ontario won for the third time.

In 2021, he struck gold again, winning around $1 million after playing in the LOTTO MAX MAXMILLIONS.

Most recently, in Sept. 2024, Charlemagne claimed a hefty $100,000 which he won by way of ENCORE, a game which offers an additional 22 ways to win for one extra dollar.

Charlemagne purchased his most recent winning ticket in North York at Jane Variety & Gifts, telling the gaming commission that he “won’t be working anymore.”
