“The Toronto International Film Festival and Isadore Sharp have made lasting impressions on Canada’s global presence, and their legacies have enriched lives and communities around the world,” CEO of Canada’s Walk of Fame Jeffrey Latimer said in a press release. “Their Induction is a celebration of their profound contributions to our nation, and it is an honour to welcome these two trailblazers to Canada’s Walk of Fame.”

According to the press release, TIFF will be honoured for its annual initiatives such as the star studded fall film festival, TIFF Lightbox, TIFF Film Circuit, and the TIFF Content Market launching in 2026.

75 year-old JUNO winner and classical guitarist Liona Boyd who’s known as First Lady of the Guitar will also be inducted during the ceremony.

Boyd recently celebrated International Women’s Day by sharing her story of overcoming gender discrimination in the music industry on social media.

“Early in my career, a famous composer in London flatly told me l had ‘zero chance’ of building a concert career because, in his view, women always failed in the fiercely competitive world of classical guitar. He advised me to quit altogether. Shortly afterward, I won the Canadian Music Competition, which led to an international record deal with CBS Masterworks,” Boyd commented.

Some of the other notable inductees include cardiovascular surgeon Dr. Tirone David, children’s health humanitarian Dr. Samantha Nutt, Diamond-Selling band Our Lady Peace, golfer Mike Weir, and actress Tonya Williams.
